Using
Netforms
NetForms is the
Web server "back-end" that will allow you to create
interactive
Web sites. NetForms
is more than just a single-purpose add-on to a Web server.
Instead, NetForms is a multipurpose CGI that provides
Webmasters with commands that allow for a great deal of
customization and creativity, features that will keep
visitors to your Web site coming back again and
again.
What exactly can
NetForms do for your Web site? There are four tasks that
NetForms can perform when a user submits information to your
Web server:
- Create a new
HTML page.
- Insert text or
HTML into an existing page.
- Store data for
later processing by virtually any application (including
databases, spreadsheets and text-processors).
- Send an e-mail
message.
Just a few
examples of uses for NetForms include:
- Creating
interactive, threaded, directed discussion forums
(bulletin boards, job postings, classified ads,
announcements, etc.).
- Allowing users
who know nothing about creating Web pages to add content
to a Web site, including their own home pages, news
articles, project or classroom updates, and
more.
- Automatically
maintaining a Guest Book where users can sign in as well
as read about people who have visited your Web
site.
- Accepting
product orders and other requests.
- Enabling users
to automatically subscribe to e-mail lists or send
feedback via e-mail messages by filling out an html
form.
NetForms, and your
creativity, will enable you to generate flexible,
easy-to-use forms to make your Web server stand out from the
crowd.
Listed are the
various sections of the EOS Netforms help manual.
