Retriever II

Description

Retriever II is a commercial product developed and published by Exodus Software as a flat-file database solution for small to medium size files. It supports files up to 16,000 records and 255 columns, with text fields as large as 32,000 characters. It uses a proprietary record caching system, allowing Retriever II to work in a small memory partition, even with files of several thousand records, and many fields. Retriever II's powerful import engine allows users to append data to an existing file, combining up to 4 fields into a single field. Fields can be numeric and calculated as well as text, allowing for many uses beyond some of the more basic databases. Phone dialing with customizable strings and preferences are included, allowing the user to dial either using a modem or through the Macintosh's speaker.
