Major Duties and Responsibilities: Design and implementation of studies in the area of stem cell and/or cancer stem cell research, including, but not limited to, lenti/retroviral trasnduction, bone marrow transplantation, rodent handling, ex vivo tissue culture, cell culture and molecular / biochemical analysis. The fellow will also be responsible for preparation of publications and funding applications based on his/ her work. Minimum qualifications: Recent Ph.D. or equivalent with one or two years of postdoctoral experience in the biomedical and analytical aspects of immunology, hematology or oncology and animal experimentation. Asst Supervisor Hoxworth Tech – Cellular Therapies Lab Position Number: 27HX3998 – Full time position Major Duties and Responsibilities: The Cellular Therapies Division of Hoxworth Blood Center is seeking an Operations Manager to assist with the management of a thriving clinical cell processing laboratory. Program growth has generated the need for an experienced laboratory professional to assist the Division Director with lab management responsibilities. This person would be responsible for overseeing the manufacture of a variety of cellular therapy products for clinical trial use, primarily consisting of bone marrow and peripheral blood stem cell products for transplant patients being treated at the adult and pediatric transplant programs in Cincinnati. Perform innovative cell selection techniques and develop new procedures for the production of novel cellular therapy products for clinical trial use, including gene therapy products. Supervise technologists working in all aspects of laboratory operations, including clinical cell processing, maintaining supply inventories, performing quality control test procedures, facility and equipment maintenance, and communicating with physicians. Resolve complex laboratory procedural problems requiring advanced knowledge, skill and interpretive judgment. Assign work; ensure proper workflow; act as team leader / lead technologist. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor of Science degree in biological science (or related field) and three (3) years related laboratory experience required. Dedication to quality patient service is a must. Prior supervisory experience, ASCP Certification, prior pharmaceutical production experience, or hematology research experience preferred. Clinical Laboratory Scientist – Compatibility Lab Position Number: 27HX3605 – Full time position Hours: 3:30pm - Midnight, rotating weekends and holidays with on-call duty. Major Duties and Responsibilities: Perform routine and complex pre-transfusion compatibility testing with minimal supervision. Evaluate/interpret test results; select/prepare blood components for transfusions; perform quality control procedures and computerized data entry and retrieval functions; and communicate effectively with individuals within and outside the department. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and MT (ASCP), BB (ASCP) or CHT (ABHI); -OR- Bachelor's degree and registry eligible; -OR- Bachelor's degree and HEW certified medical technologist with two (2) years related experience; -OR- MLT with three (3) years related experience. Blood Center Phlebotomist - Full-time 100% FTE (27HXPOOL) License Practical Nurses, EMTs, Paramedics, and Medical Assistants - Full-time position, days and hours will vary. Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from a certified Medical Assistant (MA) or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program, valid driver's license and have a safe driving record. Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds and be able to demonstrate a full range of motion for bending, stooping and lifting.
