Malcolm P. Adcock Memorial Scholarship
Congratulations to
Melvin Black II of Walnut Hills High School! Winner
of the 2008 Malcolm P. Adcock Memorial Scholarship.
Malcolm P. Adcock was
the health commissioner for the City of Cincinnati for 11 years. He
was known for his dedication to improving health care services for
the low-income residents of Cincinnati. His proudest achievement was
keeping medical services intact at the city’s six health clinics
located in low-income communities despite Cincinnati’s budget
crisis. He served on the Community Advisory Board of the Hoxworth
Blood Center for over 15 years and served as Board Chair from 1999
to 2003.
This scholarship will
be awarded to a graduating African-American senior who is attending
a high school within the city limits of Cincinnati and are enrolling
full-time the following fall as an undergraduate to study in the
designated fields of: Health Professions, Public Health, Health
Research, Nursing or related fields. Applicants must also excel in
the following categories:
